EFT is short for Emotional Freedom Techniques. It is sometimes referred to as Tapping Therapy as it requires the person to tap using their fingertips on acupressure points on the body.

It is a form of Energy Therapy; some well known energy therapies that you may have already heard of are acupuncture, acupressure, reflexology and yoga.

EFT is a blend of modern psychology and acupressure. It uses the meridians (from acupressure) to help the body’s energy to flow naturally and free any blockages which may have formed. It is a non-invasive therapy where the client will sit and discuss their problems with the EFT practitioner and then follow their lead while saying and tapping through the sequence.

EFT addresses the underlying issues causing emotional distress or trauma, with the goal of reducing or removing the distress and helping to improve the person’s health. EFT has been proven to be effective in treating phobias, anxiety, depression, pain, PTSD and many other problems.

EFT was developed by Gary Craig in the 1990 in USA as a more simplified and accessible version of TFT (Thought Field Therapy). A practicing psychologist Dr Callahan developed TFT after studying health practises from the East and tapping on the meridian points to help his clients.
